Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Know the housework a child can help with: using the right tool for each job, what each room needs, putting things back where they belong, and doing jobs at the right time of day, as a way of helping yourself and your family.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, a matching game with 4 pairs each - Mopping with a mop; watering the plants with a watering can - The bedroom with making the bed; the bathroom with washing it and wiping it dry - Shoes with the shoe rack; plates with the food cupboard - Putting toys away with before bed; watering the plants with morning or evening

How to use it in class

Use to open a housework unit, or to review after setting chores as homework. 6-8 minutes. - Play solo on tablets or phones, then go through the answers together on the screen - After round 4, each child picks one job to do at home this week and says when they will do it - If many miss round 4, ask "If we water at noon in strong sun, what happens to the water?" - Play it linked to a class and the scores go into the class gradebook.

Common sticking points

- In round 1, swapping the broom and the mop, since some children call both ไม้ - In round 2, the kitchen and the bathroom both involve washing and wiping, so children may swap them; point to the words dishes and table in the kitchen's pair - In round 4, matching watering the plants to on getting up, since both happen in the morning
