What children will practise

Tell data from information, understand why backups matter, know a computer virus is a program and how to guard against one, use others' work properly, and know that copyright protects creative works.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options each - Information is data that has been processed - A computer virus is a program that damages systems or steals data (not a germ) - Guarding against viruses: don't open strange files, keep antivirus updated - Using others' work: ask permission and cite the source - Copyright protects creators' creative works (not brand names or machines)

How to use it in class

Use in a Grade 4 IT lesson. 6 minutes. - Play solo, then extend question 1: take five classmates' scores and work out the average as information - Use question 6 to mention that brands are protected by trademarks and machines by patents - If many miss question 1, go back to the data-versus-information sorting game - Play it linked to a class and the scores go into the class gradebook.

Common sticking points

- In question 1, choosing information is data stored in a computer, since สารสนเทศ is usually heard alongside computers - In question 6, choosing a company's name and logo, having heard that copying logos is not allowed - In question 2, choosing it stops viruses, confusing backups with antivirus software
