A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
Three - red, yellow and blue - and every other colour is mixed from them.
Red and yellow make orange.
Yellow and blue make green.
Before you play
Practises the three primary colours (red, yellow, blue), the colour each pair makes (orange, green, purple), and telling warm colours from cool ones, in line with indicator ศ 1.1 ป.1/1 on talking about colour around us.
6 questions, pick one of 3 answers - How many primary colours are there? (3) - Red mixed with yellow makes? (orange) - Red mixed with blue makes? (purple) - Which is a cool colour? (blue; the distractors are golden yellow and reddish orange)
Play right after children have mixed real paint on a palette, about 6 minutes. Solo play on tablets or phones suits it since the questions are short; let children point to their own palette to check. If many miss red plus blue, mix it again at the front straight away, then move on. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.
- Red plus blue is the pair children remember least; many pick green, mixing it up with yellow plus blue. Chant the pairs: red-blue-purple, yellow-blue-green. - How many primary colours: some pick 7, thinking of the rainbow. Point out the rainbow is a different idea. - Cool colour: the golden-yellow distractor can cause doubt. Recap that yellow, orange and red sit on the warm side.
