Draw the main shapes first, then add the detail.
Have everything ready and you will not keep getting up.
Before you play
Practises the order of a drawing job: setting up, sketching lightly in pencil, inking, colouring and tidying away. Supports indicator ศ 1.1 ป.1/3 on making visual art.
4 rounds, put 4 steps in order - sketch lightly in pencil > ink the lines > colour in > add details - draw a square for the house > a triangle for the roof > add door and windows > colour in - cover the table > lay out paper > get paints and brush ready > get rinsing water ready - wash the brush > wipe the table > put paints away > throw out paper scraps
Use before one of the first painting lessons of the term, about 6 minutes, whole class on the projector. For the house round, draw on the board in the order the class chose; a wrong order looks odd and children see it themselves. The setting-up and tidying rounds can become your class routine. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.
- Round 1: "colour in" and "add details" often get swapped, since children think details come before colour. Both happen in real life; explain why the game uses this order. - Tidying round: wiping the table, putting paints away and throwing out scraps have no single right order, so this is where most children slip. Tell them beforehand which order the game expects and do not penalise reasoned alternatives. - Setting up: some lay paper before covering the table. Point out the cover goes down first.
