What children will practise

Reviews Grade 2 art across units: complementary colours, colour value, what kind of instrument the so is, the story khon tells, krathong materials that do not harm rivers, and starting art criticism from what you see.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, 3 options, one topic each - What is red's complementary colour? (green) - What kind of instrument is the so? (string) - What story does khon tell? (the Ramakien; distractors are Phra Aphai Mani and Khun Chang Khun Phaen) - What should a krathong be made from? (banana leaf and banana trunk)

How to use it in class

A review before the end-of-term test or in the last lesson, about 6 minutes, teams competing. If most teams miss a question, open the topic set next lesson: the music set for the so question, the colour set for complementary colours. Near Loy Krathong, the krathong question opens a chat about the environment. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Khon: the distractors are Thai classics children have heard of, so unsure children guess. Connect it to a character they know, such as Hanuman. - So: some pick wind or percussion, never having seen one bowed. Mime bowing. - Complementary colour: children still unsure pick orange, which sits next to red.
