What children will practise

Practises ordering Grade 4 art processes: drawing a still life, building a sculpture on an armature, preparing a performance, and the critique steps describe, analyse, interpret, judge. Supports indicator ศ 1.1 ป.4/2.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, order 4 steps each - arrange the objects and observe the light > block in the overall shapes > add light and shade > finish details and textures - design and sketch > build the armature > build up the material > finish the surface - choose the story and plan > rehearse part by part > dress rehearsal > perform - describe what you see > analyse the elements > interpret the meaning > judge its value

How to use it in class

Use before a still-life drawing or sculpture lesson, about 6 minutes, solo or in pairs. After the critique round, have the class apply the four steps to one picture on screen straight away. If the sculpture round goes badly, show a photo of a real wire armature. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Critique round: "analyse" and "interpret" often swap because children cannot yet tell them apart. Use prompts: What do you see? Why is it like this? What does it mean? How good is it? - Sculpture: "build the armature" and "build up material" may swap for children who have only used modelling clay and never seen an armature. - Still life: some put "light and shade" last.
