What children will practise

A mixed Grade 5 social studies review covering the abolition of slavery, VAT, the equator, earthquake safety, the Four Paths to Success and the 1932 revolution, to find which unit needs more revision.

What's in the worksheet

6 multiple-choice questions, 3 options each, one topic per question - King Rama V abolished slavery - VAT is an indirect tax - The equator splits the world into north and south - In an earthquake, drop and take cover first - The Four Paths to Success help you finish work; 1932 brought democracy

How to use it in class

Use at the end of term as a readiness check; about 5 minutes. - Play solo, then check per-question results in the mark book, since each question is a different unit - Questions 1 and 6 are both history; if children mix them up, draw a timeline with Rama V before 1932 - For any question more than half the class misses, play that unit's own game next lesson - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Question 6: 'abolished slavery and set up ministries' is Rama V's work, chosen by children who blur the big events together - Question 2: 'not a tax' tempts children who do not know VAT, since they never see themselves paying tax at the till - Question 4: 'stand still' sounds calm and safe, so some pick it; stress getting low and protecting the head - Question 5: the Four Paths come from Buddhism lessons, so children may not expect them here and guess
