Curriculum indicatorส 2.1 ป.1/2
A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
Rules let everyone share the room in order and in safety.
Cross at the crossing and look both ways to be sure it is safe.
Red means stop; green means go.
Before you play
Practises understanding why classrooms have rules, crossing at a zebra crossing, what a red light means, queueing, picking up litter, and being a good class member. Fits indicator ส 2.1 ป.1/2 on following agreements and rules.
6 questions, choose 1 of 3 - Why do classrooms need rules? (so we can live together in order) - How should you cross the road? (at the zebra crossing, looking left and right) - How do you queue for food? (join the line in order) - What do you do when you see litter? (put it in the bin)
Use at the start of the school year when setting class agreements, about 6 minutes, whole class, options read aloud. After the classroom-rules question, have the class propose three rules of their own. For crossing the road, practise looking right, left, right at the front of the room. Questions many miss become rules on the board. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.
- Classroom rules: the distractor "so the teacher knows who is good" matches how Grade 1 children see rules, as the teacher's business. Point out rules keep everyone safe. - Litter: some pick "wait for the caretaker" since they see it as the caretaker's job. - Crossing: the distractor "cross when your friend starts walking" is what children actually do. Stress you must look for yourself every time.
