This set has 6 questions in an interactive multiple choice activity.
Curriculum indicatorท 1.1 ป.1/2
A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
ไม้เอก is a single small slanted stroke above the consonant, as in ป่า, ไก่.
ไม้โท looks like a small figure two above the consonant, as in ป้า, บ้าน.
A word with no mark above the consonant carries no written tone.
Before you play
Practise recognising the tone marks ไม้เอก, ไม้โท and ไม้ตรี in ป่า, ป้า and ป๊า, spotting a word with no tone mark, and naming the marks in บ้าน (ไม้โท) and ไก่ (ไม้เอก), for reading words and their meanings (ท 1.1 ป.1/2).
6 multiple-choice questions - Which shows ไม้เอก: ป่า / ป้า / ป๊า - Which shows ไม้โท: ป่า / ป้า / ป๋า - Which word has no tone mark: ก่า / ก้า / กา - Which shows ไม้ตรี (ป๊า) - Which mark does บ้าน use, and which does ไก่ use
Use after teaching tone marks, 4-5 minutes in solo mode. - Before playing, children draw the marks in the air: one stroke for ไม้เอก, a little two for ไม้โท, three bumps for ไม้ตรี - Items 1, 2 and 4 all use ป + า; read ป่า, ป้า, ป๊า aloud in turn to hear the difference - For items 5 and 6, point to the mark on a real word card Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.
- Item 1: swapping ป่า and ป้า because the marks are tiny on screen; enlarge them or write them big on the board - Item 4: ไม้ตรี is rare at P1, so children may guess; remember โต๊ะ uses it - Item 3: misreading no tone mark; explain it means no mark above the letter
