What children will practise

Practise reading simple words and sorting them four ways: short versus long vowels, with or without a tone mark, one versus two syllables, and animals versus objects, for fluent reading aloud (ท 1.1 ป.1/1).

What's in the worksheet

4 sorting questions - กะ and ปุ are short; กา and ปู are long - ไก่ and บ้าน have a tone mark; กา and นา do not - นก and ปลา have 1 syllable; กระดาษ and ดินสอ have 2 - แมว (cat) and หมา (dog) are animals; โต๊ะ (table) and เก้าอี้ (chair) are objects

How to use it in class

Use as an end-of-week reading review, 5 minutes in team mode. - For every item, teams read the words aloud before dragging - For item 3, clap the syllables, especially กระดาษ, read กระ-ดาษ as two - Item 4 is easy and lets slower readers finish with points Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Item 3: counting ปลา as 2 syllables when children split it into ปะ-ลา; practise the cluster in one beat - Item 3: counting กระดาษ as 3 if read กะ-ระ-ดาษ - Item 1: swapping ปุ and ปู, as both vowels sit below the consonant
