What children will practise

Practise sorting words four ways: ไม้เอก versus ไม้โท, with or without a final consonant, proper names versus ordinary nouns, and action words versus describing words, to explain the meaning of words read (ท 1.1 ป.2/2).

What's in the worksheet

4 sorting questions - ป่า and ไก่ take ไม้เอก; ป้า and บ้าน take ไม้โท - นก and จาน have a final consonant; นา and ตา do not - กรุงเทพ (Bangkok) and สมชาย (a name) are proper names; เมือง (city) and เด็กผู้ชาย (boy) are ordinary nouns - วิ่ง (run) and กิน (eat) show actions; สูง (tall) and อ้วน (fat) describe qualities

How to use it in class

Use for review at the start of P2, 5 minutes in team mode. - For item 2, read the words and listen for a closed or open ending; นก and จาน close on a consonant - For item 3, have children give classmates' names and provinces as more proper names - For item 4, act out the action words; the describing words can't be acted Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Item 1: swapping ป่า and ป้า, which differ only by a small mark - Item 4: putting อ้วน (fat) with actions, as children link it with eating - Item 3: putting เด็กผู้ชาย with proper names because it is long, like สมชาย
