What children will practise

Practise ordering a paragraph about My School, the steps of writing an essay, the parts of a letter, and the sentence ชาวนาปลูกข้าวในนา, as a base for writing a paragraph with a clear main idea.

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering questions - My school is pleasant > There are shady trees > Every teacher is kind > So I come to school happily - Choose the subject > Plan > Write to the outline > Check it over - The date > The salutation > The body > The sign-off and name - ชาวนา (farmer) > ปลูก (plants) > ข้าว (rice) > ในนา (in the field)

How to use it in class

Use before children write a My School paragraph, 4 minutes in solo mode. - For item 1, point out that จึง in the last sentence signals the conclusion - Use item 2 as the real routine: plan before writing - Carry item 3 into a lesson on writing a letter to a teacher or friend Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Item 1: swapping the trees and teachers sentences, which reads fine; if marked wrong, tell children that order works too - Item 3: putting the date last, having seen documents dated at the end - Item 2: swapping planning and writing, as children tend to start writing straight away
