Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Practise using money well: think about need and the money you have before buying, put some aside each time you get money, reuse or pass things on, avoid buying because friends do, and see that writing down income and spending shows where the money went.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options each - Before buying, ask: do I need it, and do I have enough money? - Saving: put some aside every time you get money - Used but still good: keep using it or pass it on - Writing down earning and spending: you know where the money went - Helping at home: it trains responsibility

How to use it in class

Use in a lesson on money and saving, 5-7 minutes, perhaps after a story about saving. - Play solo, then talk about question 4: have you wanted something because a friend had it? - For question 5, have children list what they spent their snack money on yesterday - If many miss question 6, explain that it is not about money; it asks what helping trains in us - Play it linked to a class and the scores go into the class gradebook.

Common sticking points

- In question 6, choosing it earns money, since the game is about money and some families pay for chores; accept that this happens, but the answer wanted is that it trains responsibility - In question 5, choosing it gets you more pocket money, thinking parents will give more - In question 2, choosing ask parents for more because the word ออม is unfamiliar; explain it with a piggy bank
