What children will practise

Review a range of Grade 2 life-skills topics: what overwatering does, what a mouse is for, why cloth bags are better, farmyard manure, storing a needle safely, and why planning housework helps.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options each - Overwatering makes the roots rot - A mouse is for pointing and clicking on the screen - Farmyard manure is composted animal dung - Storing a sewing needle: in the pincushion (not a shirt pocket) - A cloth bag is better because it can be reused and cuts waste

How to use it in class

Use for end-of-term revision, since it covers several units. 5 minutes. - Play solo, then check the gradebook for the most-missed question to choose which unit to reteach - If many miss question 1, ask "Do roots need only water, or air as well?" - For question 5, show a real pincushion - Play it linked to a class and the scores go into the class gradebook.

Common sticking points

- In question 1, choosing it grows faster, thinking more water is always better; explain that roots in waterlogged soil lack air and rot - In question 3, choosing lighter and folds smaller, mixing up which bag is lighter - In question 4, children who have never seen manure may pick ground dry leaves because it sounds like compost
