What children will practise

Sort fixed versus variable costs, good versus poor online behaviour, physical versus online sales channels, and planning versus doing stages in a business.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, a sorting game with 4 items each - Rent and monthly internet are fixed; electricity and food are variable - Checking a story before sharing and crediting sources are good; posting others' pictures without asking is not - A market stall and a street stall are physical; a selling page and an online marketplace are online - Writing the plan and researching the market are planning; making goods and delivering are doing

How to use it in class

Use to review the Grade 6 money and business units. 6-8 minutes. - Play in teams; for round 1, each team adds one more household cost to each group - For round 2, discuss whether posting a sleeping friend's photo in the class group crosses the line - If many miss round 1, ask "Does the bill change between months when you use more or less?" - Play it linked to a class and the scores go into the class gradebook.

Common sticking points

- In round 1, putting monthly internet under variable, thinking more use costs more, although a monthly package costs the same - In round 1, putting electricity under fixed because it is paid monthly like rent; separate paid every month from the same every month - In round 4, putting market research under doing because you go out and do it
