What children will practise

Practises sorting things from art lessons into pairs of groups: warm and cool colours, drawing tools and colouring tools, struck and blown instruments, and visual art versus performance. Supports indicator ศ 1.1 ป.1/1.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, drag 4 items into 2 groups each - red and orange go to warm, blue and green to cool - pencil and pen are for drawing lines, brush and crayon for colouring - drum and ranat (Thai xylophone) are struck, flute and pi (Thai oboe) are blown - drawing and colouring are visual art, ramwong dancing and singing are performances

How to use it in class

Works as an end-of-unit review, 5-7 minutes, in teams of 4-5 who agree before dragging. If you have a pencil, brush and crayon in the room, hold them up. If several teams misplace the ranat, mime striking a ranat and blowing a flute and ask "How does each make its sound?" Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Green: some children put it with the warm colours because it is a bright leaf colour. Link it to a picture of sea or forest that feels cool. - Crayon: may land in the drawing-lines group since children do draw lines with it. Accept that it does both, but here it counts as a colouring tool. - Pi: most Grade 1 children have never seen one and guess it is struck. Play a short clip of a pi before the game.
