What children will practise

Practises naming family members' roles, chores children can do at their age, what Mother's, Father's, Children's and Teachers' Day mean, and Thai manners such as the wai and stooping when passing seated elders. Fits indicator ส 2.1 ป.1/1 on being a good family member.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, match 4 pairs each - grandparents go with teaching and caring for grandchildren; older sibling goes with helping look after younger ones - tidying toys goes with young children; cooking goes with adults - Teachers' Day goes with remembering teachers' kindness - stooping goes with passing seated elders; saying sorry goes with doing something wrong

How to use it in class

Play after children share who lives at home, about 8 minutes, whole class. After the manners round, have everyone stand and practise a wai and stooping past a seated teacher. In the chores round, let children say which chores they do at home. Be mindful of children without both parents; say "the grown-ups who look after us". Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Chores round: "sweeping = older children" and "watering plants = children of any age" have no clear logic; Grade 1 children who already sweep at home will swap them. Do not treat this as a serious error. - Children's Day and Teachers' Day may swap for weaker readers; read the answers aloud. - "Wai = greeting elders" and "saying thank you" may swap since children also wai to say thanks.
