What children will practise

Reviews Grade 4 across art strands: shading for volume, tone colour (timbre) in music, the main khon character types, mural subjects, copying as copyright infringement, and the vanishing point sitting on the horizon.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, 3 options, mixing visual art, music and dance - What is tone colour in music? (the particular sound of each instrument) - Which character types does khon use? (phra, nang, yak, ling) - What is copying someone's work? (copyright infringement) - Where is the vanishing point? (on the horizon line)

How to use it in class

A review before the end-of-term test or in the last lesson, about 6 minutes, teams competing. Note any question most teams miss and play the topic set next lesson: elements of music for tone colour, drawing in 3D for the vanishing point. For tone colour, play a flute and a violin on the same note so children hear the difference. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Tone colour: the Thai term contains the word "colour", which puzzles children, and many choose pitch. Have two instruments play the same note. - Khon: the distractor "phra, nang and a clown" pulls in children thinking of likay or lakhon. - Vanishing point: some pick "always the centre". Show one off to the left or right.
