What children will practise

Sort diseases by how they spread (mosquitoes or airborne droplets), safe from risky online behaviour, endurance from strength exercises, and low-fat from high-fat food by cooking method.

What's in the worksheet

4 sorting rounds, 2 baskets each - Mosquito-borne or airborne: dengue, flu, malaria, tuberculosis - Safe or risky online: a hard-to-guess password, giving your address to a stranger, asking a parent before signing up, meeting an online contact alone - Endurance or strength: jogging, push-ups, continuous swimming, squats - Low or high fat: steamed fish, fried chicken, blanched vegetables, chips

How to use it in class

Reviews several units in one game; about 4-5 minutes. - Play in timed teams; after each round have teams add one example per basket - For round 3, have the class do 5 squats and jog on the spot for 20 seconds, then compare how each felt - Follow round 2 by asking whether children's social accounts are set to private - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Round 1: most Grade 5 children do not know tuberculosis and may guess mosquito, while malaria may be guessed as airborne - Round 3: children may think swimming builds arm muscle and put it under strength; stress the word continuous - Round 2: children with friends in online games may not see meeting an online contact as risky; stress the word alone
