A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
The overall health of a community's people, and everything around them that bears on it.
Teaches, keeps track of the community's health, and works with the clinics.
It removes the breeding grounds of germs and of the animals that carry them.
Before you play
Understand community health: what it means, the roles of village health volunteers and subdistrict health-promoting hospitals, how waste management and clean water affect health, and how young people can take part.
6 multiple-choice questions, 3 options each - Community health is the overall health of people in a community - Village health volunteers educate and follow up on health (distractor: treat illness instead of doctors) - Good waste management removes breeding grounds for germs and vectors - Clean water reduces digestive illness - Young people campaign and share correct information; the subdistrict health hospital gives basic care and prevention
Use in the community health unit; about 6 minutes. - Before playing, ask who has a relative who is a village health volunteer or has visited the local health hospital - Extend question 5 into a small project, such as a village campaign to turn over water containers - Solo or team play both work; for questions 2 and 6, make clear who does what - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.
- Question 2: children who have seen volunteers take blood pressure or hand out basic medicines may pick 'treat illness instead of doctors'; explain volunteers do not treat disease - Question 3: 'only makes the community look clean' is half true and catches children who miss the link to disease - Question 6: 'major surgery and serious illness' tempts children who think anything called a hospital treats everything - Question 5: 'share every health news item you see' sounds like taking part
