What children will practise

Practises knowing the community: jobs and what they do, places and their services, the emergency numbers 191, 199, 1669 and 1155, and solving community problems together. Supports indicator ส 2.1 ป.2/1.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, match 4 pairs each - refuse collector goes with keeping things clean; carpenter goes with building and repairing houses - post office goes with sending letters and parcels; fire station goes with fighting fires and emergencies - 191 police, 199 fire, 1669 emergency medical, 1155 tourist police - standing floodwater goes with clearing the drains

How to use it in class

The emergency-numbers round matters most, so follow it up; the game takes about 8 minutes in teams. After that round, have the class chant the numbers, write them in their notebooks, and role-play an emergency call and what to say. In the community-problems round, let children add problems they see where they live. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Emergency numbers: 191 and 199 are the most common swap because they look alike; hook 199 to fire. The four-digit 1669 and 1155 can swap too. - Police station and fire station may swap since both "help". Point to "put out fires". - Dirty streets and overflowing rubbish may swap since both are about cleanliness.
