A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
191 is the police number for emergencies and crimes.
A haircut is something a person does for you, not a thing you can hold.
A province is made up of several districts, so it is larger.
Before you play
Reviews several Grade 2 social studies topics: the 191 emergency number, goods versus services, the administrative unit above the district, why Visakha Bucha matters, Loy Krathong and rivers, and being a good citizen in the community.
6 questions, 3 options, one topic each - Which number do you call for emergencies and crimes? (191) - Which is a service, not a good? (a haircut) - Which unit is bigger than a district? (a province) - Why is Visakha Bucha important? (the Buddha's birth, enlightenment and passing fall on it)
An end-of-term review, about 6 minutes, teams competing. For any question most teams miss, open the topic set next lesson: our community for the emergency number, ordering administrative units for the province question, teachings and practice for Visakha Bucha. Always have the class chant the emergency number after its reveal. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.
- Emergency number: the distractors 199 and 1669 are real numbers too, so children who remember numbers but not agencies go wrong. - Administrative unit: some pick "sub-district" thinking it is bigger. Show nested boxes: village in sub-district in district in province. - Visakha Bucha: the distractors describe Makha Bucha and Asanha Bucha, so children who mix them up go wrong.
