Before you play
Practises sorting Grade 3 social studies knowledge: northern versus southern provinces, income versus expenses, natural resources versus human-made things, and kingdoms before versus after Ayutthaya. Supports indicator ส 5.1 ป.3/1.
4 rounds, sort 4 items into 2 groups - Chiang Rai and Lampang are northern; Songkhla and Krabi are southern - pocket money received and money from selling old things are income; lunch and books are expenses - forests and minerals are natural resources; dams and roads are human-made - Sukhothai and Lanna come before Ayutthaya; Thonburi and Rattanakosin come after
Reviews several units at once, about 6 minutes, in teams. Put up a map of Thailand so teams can find the provinces in the regions round. After the kingdoms round, sketch a quick timeline on the board. If the income and expenses round goes badly, ask "Does this money go into your pocket or out of it?" Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.
- Lanna is the least familiar name for Grade 3, and it existed alongside Ayutthaya for a long time, so children hesitate. Say the game goes by when each kingdom was founded. - Lampang and Krabi: children who have never been there guess. Use the map. - Dam: some put it under natural resources because it holds water. Point out the water is natural but people built the dam.
