What children will practise

Practises Thailand's geography by region: landforms, main rivers (Ping, Chao Phraya, Mun, Tapi), cash crops, and an example province for each region. Fits indicator ส 5.1 ป.3/1.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, match 4 pairs each - the Northeast goes with a plateau; the South with a peninsula and coastline - the Northeast goes with the Mun River; the South with the Tapi River - the South goes with rubber; the North with longan - Khon Kaen goes with the Northeast; Ayutthaya with the Central region

How to use it in class

Keep a physical map of Thailand up throughout; about 9 minutes in teams. In the rivers round, have a team member trace the river on the map before answering. In the crops round, show longan or a rubber plantation photo if you can. Afterwards, have children find their own province's region and its key river or crop. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Rivers: most children know neither the Tapi nor the Mun and get them by elimination after Ping and Chao Phraya. - Crops: children from the Northeast may hesitate at cassava rather than rice, since their families grow rice. Acknowledge that the Northeast grows a great deal of rice too. - Landforms: North and Northeast may swap since both sound "high". Contrast high mountains with a high plateau.
