A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
Keeps the peace and links the villagers with the authorities.
A subdistrict headman covers a subdistrict, which holds several villages.
A governor is the senior administrator of a province.
Before you play
Practises knowing who looks after each level of local government (village headman, kamnan, provincial governor), what a municipality does, why elections matter, and how citizens take part locally. Fits indicator ส 2.2 ป.3/1.
6 questions, choose 1 of 3 - What does a village headman do? (keeps order and liaises with government) - Which level does a kamnan look after? (the sub-district, tambon) - What does a municipality do? (runs public services in town) - How can citizens take part locally? (vote and join activities)
Before playing, have children name the school's village, sub-district, district and province; the game takes about 7 minutes, whole class. After the kamnan and governor questions, draw nested boxes on the board and label each level with its official. For the municipality question, ask who collects the rubbish outside our homes. If a question goes badly, invite a parent who is a community leader to talk next lesson. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.
- Kamnan: children often confuse the kamnan with the village headman and pick "village". Hook: a kamnan oversees several headmen in a tambon. - Village headman: the distractor "judges villagers' legal cases" draws children who have seen the headman settle local disputes. - Municipality: children outside towns may not know the term and are more used to the SAO (Or Bor Tor). Explain the difference.
