What children will practise

Put four sequences in order: Thailand's capitals through time, opening a bank account, responding to an earthquake, and areas from province up to continent.

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering rounds, 4 cards each - Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, Thonburi, Rattanakosin - Get your ID card, go to the bank, fill in the form, make the first deposit - Drop and cover, hold on, wait for the shaking to stop, leave the building - Province, country, ASEAN region, Asian continent

How to use it in class

A short game for the start or end of a lesson, about 4 minutes. - After round 3, have the class act out the steps in order so the body remembers them - For round 4, use a globe or map to show our province inside Thailand, Thailand inside ASEAN, ASEAN inside Asia - In teams, have each team read its order aloud before submitting to catch steps that sound wrong - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Round 3: children may put 'leave the building' early out of the instinct to run; stress leaving only once the shaking stops - Round 4: children may be unsure whether ASEAN or Asia is bigger; show on a map that ASEAN is part of Asia - Round 2: getting the ID card and going to the bank may be swapped by children who think documents are prepared at the bank
