A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
หมา (a dog) has four legs, barks, and is kept to guard the house.
ดินสอ is the writing tool; สมุด is what you write in.
ข้าว (rice) is the staple food in Thailand, eaten at every meal.
Before you play
Practise working out a word from a short description (หมา, ดินสอ, ข้าว) and finding the opposites of ใหญ่, ร้อน and ดี, so children understand words in what they read and can answer questions (ท 1.1 ป.1/3).
6 multiple-choice questions, 3 options each - Which word means the four-legged animal that barks: หมา / ปลา / นก - Which word means something you write with (ดินสอ, pencil) - Which word is the opposite of ใหญ่, big (เล็ก, small) - Which is the opposite of ร้อน, hot: อุ่น warm / เย็น cold / แห้ง dry - Which is the opposite of ดี, good: เก่ง clever / สวย beautiful / เลว bad
Use as a word-guessing game at the start of a Thai lesson, 4-5 minutes in solo mode. - Read every question aloud, as some P1 children can't yet read long sentences - After items 1 to 3, children make up riddles of the same kind for friends, such as the animal that says meow - If item 5 goes wrong, compare hot, warm and cold water Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.
- Opposite of ร้อน: choosing อุ่น (warm), also a temperature word; explain warm sits between hot and cold - Opposite of ดี: hesitating because เลว is rare in daily speech; children know ไม่ดี better - Opposite of ใหญ่: choosing สูง or ยาว, thinking of size words
