What children will practise

Practise building the sentence คุณครูสอนหนังสือให้นักเรียน, ordering the hare and tortoise tale, putting ด ต ถ ท in order, and the steps of reading a word aloud, as groundwork for writing a short story in order (ท 2.1 ป.2/2).

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering questions - คุณครู (the teacher) > สอน (teaches) > หนังสือ > ให้นักเรียน (the students) - the hare challenges the tortoise > the hare runs far ahead > the hare falls asleep > the tortoise finishes first - ด > ต > ถ > ท - look at the initial consonant > the vowel > the final consonant > blend and read aloud

How to use it in class

Use after telling the hare and tortoise story, 4 minutes in solo mode. - For item 2, children retell the tale one sentence each in the order they built - Apply item 4 to real words such as นก and จาน: split consonant, vowel and final, then blend - For item 3, chant ด เด็ก, ต เต่า, ถ ถุง, ท ทหาร together Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Item 3: swapping ถ and ท, which sound the same; chant ถ ถุง, ท ทหาร - Item 4: putting the vowel first, since some vowels are written before the consonant (เ แ โ) - Item 2: swapping running ahead and falling asleep if the child doesn't know the tale
