Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Practise rhyming words, reduplicated words and their meanings, virtue words (ขยัน, ซื่อสัตย์, เมตตา, อดทน), and sorting words into categories, to use words in the right place and read simple verse.

What's in the worksheet

4 matching questions, 4 pairs each - Match rhymes: นก with ยก and ลิง with หญิง - Match เด็ก ๆ to several children and บ่อย ๆ to many times - Match ซื่อสัตย์ to does not lie and อดทน to endures and does not give up - Match เสือ (tiger) to wild animals and แม่น้ำ (river) to bodies of water

How to use it in class

Use in a lesson on verse or rhyming words, 5 minutes in team mode. - For item 1, each team finds one more rhyme for นก or ลิง - For item 2, point out ไม้ยมก (ๆ) and have children make a sentence with ช้า ๆ - For item 3, children tell about a time they were patient or honest Play it linked to a class and the results go into the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Item 1: pairing นา with ขา or ปลา with ตา, which really do rhyme since all four end in -า; if the game marks it wrong, tell children their thinking was right - Item 2: swapping ใกล้ ๆ and ช้า ๆ, both describing words - Item 3: swapping เมตตา and ซื่อสัตย์, both good qualities children may not define clearly
