Before you play
A mixed Grade 5 Thai review: a samat compound, a complex sentence, a royal word, abridging, the klon suphap stanza and an idiom. Tagged ท 4.1 ป.5/1, and it also touches ป.5/4 (royal words) and ป.5/7 (idioms).
6 questions, multiple choice with three options each - The samat compound: ภูมิศาสตร์ (distractors พ่อครัว, ผ้าเช็ดหน้า) - The complex sentence: เด็กที่ใส่เสื้อแดงเป็นน้องฉัน (the child in the red shirt is my brother) - The royal word for sleep: บรรทม (distractors เสวย, ประทับ) - Klon suphap has 4 lines to a stanza; รู้อย่างเป็ด means knowing many things, none deeply
A 5-6 minute review before end-of-term tests; solo play shows each child's weak spots. Question 2 offers three very similar red-shirt sentences: write all three on the board and have children name the type of every one, not only the right one. After question 3, recall that เสวย means eat and ประทับ means sit or stay. You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook.
- Question 2: choosing เด็กใส่เสื้อแดงและน้องใส่เสื้อขาว because it looks most complicated. Show that it is compound: และ joins two equal statements. - Question 1: choosing ผ้าเช็ดหน้า because several words are joined. Stress that samat words are Pali or Sanskrit; this is a Thai compound. - Question 3: choosing ประทับ because they have heard it with resting. Clarify that ประทับ means sit or stay.
