What children will practise

A mixed Grade 6 Thai review: a doubled word, formal register, an idiom, the verse form of Phra Aphai Mani, interpretation and the bibliography. Tagged ท 4.1 ป.6/1.

What's in the worksheet

6 questions, multiple choice with three options each - The doubled word: เสื้อผ้า (distractors เสื้อยืด, เสื้อใหม่) - The formal one: มีผู้เข้าร่วมจำนวนมาก (a great number attended) - ผักชีโรยหน้า means doing good only when someone is watching - Phra Aphai Mani is in klon suphap; a bibliography names sources so they can be checked

How to use it in class

A 5-minute review before O-NET or end-of-term tests; solo play gives individual marks. In question 1 all three options start with เสื้อ: use it to review doubled word, compound and noun-plus-modifier. After question 2, have children point to the words that make the wrong options colloquial (เพียบ, เยอะแยะ). You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook. In English mode, question 1 shows เสื้อผ้า only as clothes, which hides how the word is built; play that item in Thai mode.

Common sticking points

- Question 1: choosing เสื้อยืด because it is also two joined words. Ask whether ยืด is close in meaning to เสื้อ. - Question 4: choosing khlong si suphap, mixing it up with other works. Recall that Phra Aphai Mani is in klon throughout. - Question 5: choosing the writer's fame and age. Point out that interpretation rests on the text's context.
