Before you begin
Find quotients using known multiplication facts and match each division sentence to its answer, including dividing zero and dividing by 10.
5 sets, 10 sentences, 20 points - Each set has two division sentences (ก, ข) and two answers (A, B): write the quotient and draw a line to match - Examples: 18 ÷ 3 = 6, 48 ÷ 6 = 8, 72 ÷ 8 = 9, 64 ÷ 8 = 8 - Set 5 includes 0 ÷ 5 = 0 and 100 ÷ 10 = 10 - A separate answer key is included
Use after the link between multiplication and division has been taught. Allow about 10 minutes. - Have children write the checking multiplication beside each item, e.g. 6 × 3 = 18 - Discuss set 5 together: share zero counters among five children to show why 0 ÷ 5 = 0
- Mixing up 72 ÷ 8 and 64 ÷ 8 in set 4, as the divisor is the same and the answers differ by one - Answering 0 ÷ 5 = 5 in set 5, assuming the answer must be one of the numbers shown - Swapping 56 ÷ 7 and 63 ÷ 9 in set 3, since 7 and 8 appear on both sides
