Curriculum indicators practised
Before you begin
Use clothing, activities and the sky in each picture to decide whether it shows the hot season or not.
10 questions, 10 points - Look at each picture and circle hot season / not hot season - Five hot-season scenes: Songkran water play at a temple, eating ice cream, a sandcastle on the beach, a sweaty boy drinking water and football in strong sun - Five not: a scarf with falling leaves, an umbrella in the rain, splashing in a raincoat, a windy day in a jacket and rain over the school - The answer key marks the correct option for every item
Use after teaching Thailand's three seasons. Allow about 10 minutes. - Before starting, ask which month Songkran falls in and what the weather is like, then do item 1 together - After marking, sort the 'not hot season' pictures further into rainy season and cool season
- Item 9 (football in the sun) may cause hesitation because football is played all year; the blazing sun is the clue - Reading 'not hot season' as 'cold season' only, forgetting that items 4, 6 and 10 show the rainy season - Believing any sunny day must be the hot season, although Thailand's rainy and cool seasons also have sunny days
