Before you play
A mixed Grade 3 health review: nutrition labels, seat belts, refusing drugs, bullying versus play, the flexibility test, and the excretory system.
6 multiple-choice questions, 3 options each, one topic each - A nutrition label shows energy and nutrients (distractor: production and expiry dates) - In a car, always wear a seat belt - If offered drugs, refuse and tell an adult - Bullying means intending to hurt the other person - Flexibility is tested with sit-and-reach; the excretory system removes waste
Use at the end of term as a knowledge check; about 5 minutes. - Play solo, check per-question results in the mark book, and follow weak spots with that topic's own game - For question 1, bring a real snack packet and show where the nutrition panel is versus the expiry date - For question 5, if time allows, have children try the sit-and-reach - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.
- Question 1: production and expiry dates are on the same packet, so children think they are part of the nutrition label - Question 3: 'refuse and keep it secret' starts with refuse, catching children who read only half - Question 5: sit-ups in 1 minute is a familiar test, but it measures abdominal strength, not flexibility - Question 6: the respiratory system also removes carbon dioxide, so children who know this may hesitate
