Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Put four procedures in order: responding to cyberbullying, removing Aedes breeding sites, exercising safely, and seeking mental health support.

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering rounds, 4 cards each - Cyberbullying: screenshot the evidence, do not respond, block the account, tell a parent or teacher - Aedes control: survey containers holding water, tip it out, turn over or cover, recheck weekly - Exercise: warm up, exercise to plan, cool down, stretch and drink - Mental health: recognise you are not OK, tell someone you trust, see the counsellor, see a specialist if needed

How to use it in class

A short game reviewing several units; about 4-5 minutes. - Play in teams and have teams explain the first card in each round - Follow round 2 with a walk round the school looking for standing water - For round 1, stress the game's reason: save evidence before blocking, as messages may vanish once blocked - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.

Common sticking points

- Round 1: children usually want to block at once so they stop seeing the messages, putting block first; explain the evidence reason - Round 3: cooling down and stretching with a drink can reasonably swap; children who swap them are not wrong in principle - Round 4: some children trust the counsellor more than anyone at home and may swap those two steps - Round 2: children may forget the weekly recheck or put surveying after tipping out
