Double six is six plus six, which makes twelve.

Double nine is nine plus nine, which makes eighteen.
Before you play
Recall and use the 2 and 5 times tables to multiply a one-digit number by a number up to two digits (indicator ค 1.1 ป.2/5), using counting in twos and fives as support.
6 multiple-choice questions - 2 × 6 = 12 and 2 × 9 = 18 - 2 × 8 = ? with options 18, 14, 16 - 5 × 3 = 15 and 5 × 7 = 35 - 5 × 10 = 50
Use as a times-table warm-up, 4-5 minutes. Replay on several days until scores are full; solo timed mode. - Link the 2 times table to doubles: 2 × 9 is 9 + 9 - For the 5 times table, count up in fives together before revealing - Point out that 5-times answers always end in 0 or 5, which rules options out - Play it linked to the class so each round goes into the mark book and pupils can see progress
- Choosing 18 or 14 for 2 × 8, confusing it with its neighbours 2 × 9 and 2 × 7. Think of it as 8 + 8 - Choosing 30 or 40 for 5 × 7 by counting one five too few or too many. Keep track on fingers while counting - Choosing 55 for 5 × 10 by sticking a 5 on the end
