What children will practise

Order products of the 8 and 9 tables as patterns that grow by equal steps (indicator ค 1.2 ป.3/1), order weights given in grams and kilograms, and order the steps of using scales (ค 2.1 ป.3/7).

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering questions - 16, 24, 32, 40 from the 8 times table - 18, 27, 36, 45 from the 9 times table - 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg, 2 kg lightest to heaviest - Set the needle to 0, put the object on the scale, read the number, write it with its unit

How to use it in class

Use in a hands-on weighing lesson: play for 5 minutes, then have pupils follow the Q4 steps with the classroom spring scale. - For weights, ask "Which is heavier, 500 g or 1 kg?" then convert 1 kg to 1000 g - For the 9 times table, notice that the tens go up by 1 while the ones go down by 1 - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book

Common sticking points

- Placing 500 g after 1 kg or 2 kg because 500 looks bigger than 1 or 2. Convert everything to grams first - In the weighing steps, putting the object on before setting the needle to 0, if pupils have never used a spring scale. Show how a needle off zero gives a wrong reading - Swapping 24 and 32 if the 8 times table is shaky
