Before you play
Find percentages of numbers, solve a discount problem and turn a score into a percentage, using shortcuts such as 50% is half and 10% is divide by ten, following ค 1.1 ป.5/9.
6 questions, multiple choice with 3 options - 50% of 60 (30) - 20% of 150 (30) - 400 baht with 25% off: the price (300) - 80 out of 100 as a percentage (80) - 100% of any number (the number itself)
Use as the first game after teaching percentages; about 5 minutes. - Play as a class on the projector with a real sale sign or advert for Q3 - If many miss Q3, split it into two steps: how much is taken off, then what is left - Extend Q6 by asking what 200% of 10 would be - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book.
- Q3: stopping at the 100-baht discount, or taking 25 baht off to get 375, which is offered - Q2: 20% treated as dividing by 20, or guessing 25 or 35 - Q5: 8 or 800 from muddling multiplying and dividing by 100
