What children will practise

Practises sorting Grade 5 ideas: reproducible versus one-off artworks, music symbols that change pitch versus those that mark loudness, information-led versus image-led design, and on-stage versus backstage roles. Supports indicator ศ 1.1 ป.5/1.

What's in the worksheet

4 rounds, sort 4 items into 2 groups - prints and photos printed many times are reproducible; oil paintings and hand-modelled sculpture are one-offs - sharp and flat change pitch; forte and piano mark loudness - statistical charts and direction signs are information-led; logos and advertising posters are image-led - actors and lead singers are on stage; lighting and costume crews are backstage

How to use it in class

Review after lessons on printmaking and music notation, about 6 minutes, in teams. Before the music-symbols round, write ♯ ♭ f p on the board and explain that p here is "piano" meaning soft, not the instrument. In the design round, have each team add one more real example from school to each group. Play it linked to the class and the scores go into the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Piano in the music-symbols round: most children know only the instrument and are unsure where to put it. Explain beforehand it means the p symbol for soft. - Photos printed many times: some think each photo is a one-off. - Logo may be filed as information-led because it names the company. Discuss how a logo helps us remember rather than giving detail.
