Read ten short school notices and pick out the one detail each question asks for: a day, a time, a price, a place or who should come.

What's in the worksheet

10 questions, 2 points each, 20 points in total - Notices include ART CLUB - Tuesday 3:30 - Room 4, NO RUNNING IN THE HALL, BAKE SALE - Friday - 20 baht, BUS LEAVES AT 7:15 and SCIENCE SHOW - FREE ENTRY - Questions start with When, What, How much, What time, Where and Who, each with three options - Distractors are the same type of information, e.g. 6:15 / 8:15 / 7:15 or free / 10 baht / 100 baht - A separate answer key circles the correct option

How to use it in class

Use as the first sheet of the notices unit, before the true/false and word-meaning sheets. Allow about 10-15 minutes. - Before starting, have children link each question word to the kind of answer it needs: When is a day, How much is a price, What time is a clock time - After marking, ask each child to write a notice for their own class and let a partner ask questions about it

Common sticking points

- Item 1 gives Tuesday, 3:30 and Room 4, so children may be unsure that When is asking for the day - Item 2 contains not; a child who skims may choose read or shout, which are allowed - Item 9: seeing How much, children hunt for a number and pick 10 baht instead of free - Item 10 shows a child in the picture, so some may answer students
