What children will practise

Work out who owns the pictured object, then choose my, his, her or their from three words and write it in the gap of This is ___ ....

What's in the worksheet

10 items, 20 points - Write the word in the gap, e.g. This is ___ doll., This is ___ lunch box., These are ___ balls., This is ___ car. - Answers: his three times (1, 5, 9), her three times (2, 6, 10), my twice (3, 7), their twice (4, 8) - Item 4 is the only one with These are and a plural noun - A separate key highlights the correct word with a tick

How to use it in class

Use after the circle-the-word sheet and before sentence building, as children now have to write the word too. Allow about 10-15 minutes. - Before starting, have children say whether each picture shows a boy, a girl or a family, and only then choose the word - Tell children that in items 3 and 7 the child pictured is speaking. After marking, one child plays the person in a picture and says This is my ...; a partner points and says This is his/her ...

Common sticking points

- Swapping his and her, since Thai ของเขา covers both - Choosing his instead of my in items 3 and 7, as each shows a single boy just like items 1, 5 and 9 - Item 8 shows a family with a car; picking his or her by looking at only one person - Item 4: picking his or her because each child holds their own ball
