Before you begin

Teaching guide

What children will practise

Order 4-6 single-word cards into sentences where at, on or in sits before the time phrase at the end, e.g. I wake up at 7 o'clock.

What's in the worksheet

10 questions, 20 points (2 points each) - Most cards are single words, e.g. at / 7 o'clock / up / I / wake and June / in / Day / Children's / is - Items 1 and 8 have 5-6 cards because wake up and do homework are split across cards; item 9 has only four - The same sentences as the choose and fill-in sheets - A separate answer key writes each full sentence in red on the line

How to use it in class

Use as the final sheet of the prepositions of time unit. Allow about 15 minutes. - Teach the strategy first: join the preposition and the time word into one chunk (at 7 o'clock, on Monday, in May), then put that chunk at the end - Use Children's Day is in June. only to practise in with a month name. Discuss that Thailand's Children's Day is in January; it is not a general-knowledge marking point - After marking, children move the time chunk to the front, e.g. On Sunday, we visit Grandma., and notice the capital letter and comma that change

Common sticking points

- In item 1 splitting wake and up: I wake at 7 o'clock up. - In item 10 scrambling the name of the day: Day Children's is in June. - In item 6 putting at before lunch: We have at lunch noon. - Leaving off the full stop, since no card carries one
