Curriculum indicators practised
Before you begin
Write What, Who or Where in the gap at the start of questions such as ___ is the bus stop? and ___ do you have for lunch?, using the picture.
10 items, 20 points - Who / What / Where is printed under every question; children choose and write the word in the gap - Key: What four times (favorite color, for lunch, this animal, do you want), Who three times (brother, best friend, teacher), Where three times (bus stop, school, library) - The three place pictures (bus stop, school, library) all go with Where - A separate answer key writes the word in blue and ticks it
Use after the circle-the-word sheet on this topic, since children now write the word as well. Allow about 10-15 minutes. - Practise writing What, Who and Where with a capital W on the board first; young children often swap the h and e - After marking, pairs ask each other questions 1, 4, 5 and 6 for real and answer about themselves
- Misspelling the word when writing it, e.g. Waht, Whare or Were - Items 2, 5 and 9: writing Where, since Where is your brother? is also a real question; the picture is the clue - Item 7, ___ is this animal?: writing Who because the rabbit is a smiling character - Starting with a small letter, e.g. what is your favorite color?
