English Grammar worksheets on Superlatives for Grades 4–6 (P.4–P.6), difficulty 1/5. PDF, downloadable as soon as payment clears.
Before you begin
Order five or six word cards into superlative sentences following subject + is + the + -est + noun, e.g. The lion is the strongest animal.
10 items, 2 points each, 20 points - Order the cards and write the sentence on the line; each ends with animal., car., mountain., runner. or one. - Key sentences include The red car is the fastest car., The blue backpack is the heaviest one. and The white rabbit is the fastest runner. - Item 2 splits The and giraffe into two cards and gives both The and the to place - A separate key writes each full sentence under the picture
Use as the last sheet in the superlatives set, after the choose and fill sheets. Allow about 15-20 minutes. - Before starting, point out that the capitalised card goes first and the card with a full stop goes last, and have children find those two cards in every item - After marking, have children swap the final noun for one and read both versions, e.g. The lion is the strongest one., to practise one as a substitute noun
- Putting the after the superlative, as in The lion is strongest the animal., since Thai has no articles - Item 2: swapping The and the, leaving the sentence starting with a small letter - Item 8: putting one after This orange, as in This orange one is the sweetest. - Copying the sentence without the full stop, even though the last card carries it
