What children will practise

Compare and order four two-digit numbers, both smallest to largest and largest to smallest, checking the tens before the ones (indicators ค 1.1 ป.2/2 and ป.2/3).

What's in the worksheet

4 ordering questions, drag the cards into order - 23, 35, 48, 67 smallest to largest - 91, 78, 56, 34 largest to smallest - 41, 43, 46, 49 all share the same tens, so the ones decide - 10 + 5, 20 + 5, 30 + 5, 40 + 5 work out the sums, then order

How to use it in class

Use after teaching comparison, about 5 minutes. In teams, one pupil drags and another checks. - Before Q2, have the class say "largest to smallest means the biggest goes first", since it is the only one in reverse - For 41 to 49, have pupils cover the tens and order only the ones - Extend off-screen: four pupils hold number cards and line up at the front - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book

Common sticking points

- In Q2, ordering smallest first out of habit after Q1. Read every instruction aloud - In the sums question, some get stuck because every card ends in + 5. Write 15, 25, 35, 45 beside the cards first - 41 to 49 is usually easy, but quick dragging can swap 43 and 46
