What's in the worksheet

6 multiple-choice questions, two steps each - 5 boxes of 8, 12 given away: 28 left - Four items at 25 baht, paid with 200: 100 change - 48 students in 6 groups with 4 boys each: 4 girls per group - 3 bags of 12 snacks shared between 4 people: 9 each - Four weeks and 3 days is 31 days

How to use it in class

Use once one-step multiplication and division problems are secure, about 10 minutes, team mode. Teams write step 1 and step 2 on separate lines. - For the 48 students, reread the problem before answering and stress that it asks for girls in each group - For 3 bags of snacks, have teams draw 3 bags and split them into 4 piles - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book, then use the per-question view to see which step pupils miss

Common sticking points

- For the 48 students, pupils who work out all the girls get 24, which is not an option, and then guess. Accept that reasoning: the Thai prompt does not say "per group" - Stopping after step one: for four items at 25 baht the first step is 100, which happens to equal the change. Ask pupils which step they reached - Choosing 32 or 30 for four weeks and 3 days after slipping on 7 × 4
