A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.

A magnet attracts iron and some metals, but not wood, paper or plastic.
Sort into
Something that floats is less dense than water.
Sort into
Very loud sound damages hearing if you listen for long.
Before you play
Sorts things by four observable effects: attracted by a magnet or not, floats or sinks, loud or quiet sound, natural or man-made light. Its lead topic matches indicator ว 2.2 ป.3/3 (sorting objects by magnetic attraction), a Grade 3 topic; question 4 on light sources links to ว 2.3 ป.2/1.
4 questions, a sorting game with four items each - A nail and a steel paper clip are attracted by a magnet; paper and an eraser are not - Wood and foam float; a rock and a coin sink - A whisper and rustling leaves are quiet; an aeroplane and a thunderclap are loud - The Sun and lightning are natural light; a light bulb and a torch are made by people
Best after a carousel of hands-on stations (magnets, a water tub, listening), about 6 minutes in teams. Before each reveal, ask teams which items they actually tried. After question 2, if you have a tub, drop in a coin and a piece of foam. On question 1, mention that magnets do not attract every metal. You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook. The in-game explanation for question 2 uses the word density, which is beyond Grade 2; you can say instead that a floating thing is lighter than the same amount of water.
- Question 2: putting the coin with floats because it is small and light. Drop one in water, and say that small or light does not always mean it floats. - Question 1: putting the eraser with attracted if their erasers have a metal sleeve. Show a plain eraser. - Question 4: putting lightning with man-made because it looks like a camera flash. Stress that lightning happens by itself in storms.
