Game teaching guide

What children will practise

Names what roots, stem, leaves and flower do, which part of each plant we eat, what a plant needs and what animals eat. Matches ว 1.2 ป.1/1, the jobs of the parts of a plant.

What's in the worksheet

4 questions, a matching game with four pairs each - Match roots to take in water and minerals, and leaves to make food from sunlight - Match a carrot to roots and rice to the seed - Match soil to gives minerals and holds the roots - Match a bee to nectar and an owl to mice (shown wrongly in English mode, see issues)

How to use it in class

Use it after teaching plant parts with a real plant or pictures, about 5-6 minutes in teams. For question 2, put real vegetables at the front (a carrot, lettuce) and have children say which part of the plant each is. Question 4 is about what animals eat, which is off the set's topic, so you may want to warn children. In English mode, tell the class that the translation for หนู in question 4 is wrong. You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook.

Common sticking points

- Question 2: matching the carrot to the fruit because it is the bright part we eat. Show a carrot with its leaves to see that it grows underground. - Question 1: swapping roots and stem, as both deal with water. Stress that roots take it in and the stem carries it up. - Question 4 in English mode: children cannot match the owl, because the answer shows as I, a child speaking. Explain that it means mice.
