A look before you play
A few real prompts from the game to help you choose an activity for your class.
The sun is the earth's largest source of light energy.
Heat changes the state of matter and raises its temperature.
Electricity can become light, heat, sound and movement.
Before you play
Energy around us: the main source of light, what heat does, electricity turning into light, heat and sound, renewable versus non-renewable, and saving energy. Fits ว 2.3 ป.3/1 (energy changes), ป.3/2 (energy sources for electricity) and ป.3/3 (using electricity sparingly).
6 questions, multiple choice with three options each - Most light energy comes from the Sun - Heat makes matter change state - Electricity can become light, heat and sound - Oil is non-renewable; save energy by turning lights off when not in use
Use it after a survey of electrical appliances at home or in class, about 5 minutes in teams. After question 3, ask each team for one appliance that gives light, one that gives heat and one that gives sound. After question 6, set up a rota to switch off lights and fans when the class goes to lunch. You can link it to a class and record it in the gradebook.
- Question 3: choosing only light from a bulb, since electricity first brings bulbs to mind. Ask about the rice cooker and the radio. - Question 1: choosing light bulbs because the classroom is full of them. Point out that the question asks for the largest source for the world. - Question 2: choosing matter gets heavier by guessing. Use melting ice as the example.
