What children will practise

Link parts of the day to 24-hour times and months to their place in the year, as a base for time problems (indicator ค 2.1 ป.2/1), plus review of two-digit addition and doubles.

What's in the worksheet

4 matching questions, 4 pairs each - Morning with 07:00, afternoon with 15:00, night with 21:00 - April with the 4th month, August with the 8th month - 30 + 25 with 55 and 50 + 45 with 95 - Double 9 with 18, double 15 with 30

How to use it in class

Play as review before a short quiz on time, 5-6 minutes. Team races work well because matching is quick. - For months, have the class count months on their fingers from January first - For clocks, if 15:00 is unfamiliar, relate it to 3 in the afternoon - Afterwards, ask pupils to say when they wake up in 24-hour time - Play it linked to the class to record results in the mark book

Common sticking points

- Swapping afternoon with 12:00 and midday with 15:00, because times after noon are not yet secure. Draw a timeline of the day on the board - Counting August as the 7th or 9th month. Chant the months while counting on fingers - 40 + 35 and 50 + 45 give 75 and 95; matching only on the ones digit (both 5) leads to swaps
